Lucie Moore Memorial Scholarship

Lucie Moore, a 2018 graduate of Oak Mountain High School, pursued her passion for fashion, merchandising, and business at Auburn University, graduating in 2022. Her journey led her to New York City, where she eagerly embraced opportunities to fulfill her dreams in the fashion industry. Lucie interned at Love Shack Fancy during her senior year, followed by a role in the merchandising department at Hugo Boss’s National Office in New York City, starting in June 2022.

In honoring Lucie’s memory, we seek to celebrate her remarkable qualities, highlighting her zest for life, caring nature, and her gift of giving. To commemorate her legacy and the potential she exuded, we have have established the Lucie Moore Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship aims to support Oak Mountain High School students who, like Lucie, embody passion, joy, and a stubborn determination to succeed. What is Average?

Average grades. Average ACT. Average student. Average kid.

Right? WRONG! Not at all. Lucie had a few semesters of grades that were lower around the time we moved to a new school district where she experienced a new curriculum type and had to make new friends. Then during her sophomore year, one of her best friends died in a tragic car accident equaling another tough semester on grades. But her Junior and Senior year, Lucie made straight A’s. Straight A’s and a handful of C’s from earlier equals a somewhat average GPA…and Lucie was anything but average. However, it was difficult finding a scholarships to fit this scenario. We knew she was determined, and we knew she’d be successful. Nevertheless, the scholarships available for a mid-range ACT and “average” grades were sparse. At 21 years old, Lucie had already landed an Internship at LoveShackFancy, one of the hottest lifestyle brands in the country. Days after her 2022 graduation from Auburn University with an honors degree in Fashion Merchandising and Business, she accepted a job at the HUGO BOSS, Americas in NYC, the corporate office for the fashion giant which ran operations in the US, Canada and South America. Lucie wasn’t “average” because her grades in high school looked that way…she was a dreamer. She was determined and successful. You can be, too!
